San Juan scored six runs spanning the fifth and sixth innings on Friday against the Emery Spartans, taking the Region 15 contest 6-1.
The Spartans mustered just four hits in the game, with two coming off the bat of Easton Gordon, who went 2-3 in the game. Jesse Barnett and Logan Healy had the other hits for Emery, both singles.
The Broncos broke a scoreless tie in the top of the fifth when they pushed across a run to take a slim lead. San Juan then exploded for five more in the next inning to extend the lead to 6-0. Emery scored its lone run in the bottom of the seventh, a run scored by Healy.
Cade Brazier took the loss on the mound after going 5 1/3 innings, allowing six runs, no earned, on seven hits. Kyson Stilson finished the game on the bump.
Emery (9-6, 2-4 Region 15) is off until Tuesday when its hosts Manti at 3:30 p.m.
