On November 15, a Carbon School District school bus ran into a concrete barrier at a canal. This incident resulted in damage to the school bus.

The driver of the bus then continued to drive the bus, according to Carbon School District, while both picking up and dropping off students.

According to a statement sent out by Carbon School District, student safety is their top priority. It was also stated that all school bus drivers are trained to secure the bus, notify the transportation department, check on the students and then wait for assistance when an incident like this arises. Unfortunately, according to the statement, the bus driver did not follow protocol and continued to drive the bus with students still on board. Once school district personnel were finally made aware of the incident, the students had already been dropped off at school.

In the statement released to ETV 10 News, it was stated that the driver’s employment has been terminated.
