Chase Christiansen races at Emery’s home meet hosted in September. The Spartan finished twelfth at the state meet and spurred his team on to a second-place overall victory.
Several Castle Country teams participated in the 2016 Utah UHSAA State Cross Country Championships last Wednesday at Sugarhouse Park in Salt Lake.
The Lady Dinos, who were named as the Region 12 Champions earlier in the month, ran their way to an eighth place victory overall, spurred on by senior Emily Broadbear’s 19:02.7 finish that landed her a 10th place finish at the meet.
Sadie Crompton was the next Lady Dino to cross the finish line as well as Grace Broadbear, who finished with times of 21:18.6 and 21:25.6, respectively. Abagail Salvesen, Emma Haddock, Sarah Ohwiller and Zaharah Rossi also competed.
Carbon’s boys’ team represented the Price-based school as well, with senior Drew Jones crossing the finish line first for the Dinos after 17:50.5. Sophomore Anthony Jones was the next Dino, coming in at 18:01.5, after which Logan Engar finished for the team with a time of 18:35.0. Paul Bryner, Jacob Jewkes, James Bryner and Adam Morley also ran for Carbon.
Emery’s sole representing Lady Spartan, Erin Hurst, ran strong despite the lack of a team and finished fifth overall in the 2A Girls’ competition. Hurst clocked in at 19:53.9.
Emery’s Chase Christiansen, Ty Funk and Tanyon Allred finished as Emery’s top three times. The three finished after one another with times of 17:15.9, 17:18.9 and 17:20.8, respectively.
McKay Meccariello, Griffin Livingston, Daryl Guymon and Lane Taylor also ran for the Spartans, boosting the team to a second place overall finish.
Senior Alexandrea Sherman finished first for the Lady Panthers after 24:45.3, with teammate Kaeley Taylor close behind with 24:45.8. Savana Dart was next for Pinnacle and clocked in with 24:46.5. Shylinn Lofley, Kaysha Dnegan-Clegg, Brielle Motte and Alexus Salazar also ran for Pinnacle.
The lone male representative from Pinnacle was Huntter Sherman, who finished his race with a time of 20:45.8.
