Snow Continues to Accumulate in Castle Country

It has been a busy winter here in the Castle Country area as snow has been falling off and on regularly for some time.

According to a winter weather advisory released by the National Weather Service on January 12, two to five inches will accumulate Thursday alone. The Natural Resources Conservation Service also tallied statistics about the recent snowfall, reporting that the Price/San Rafael River Basin is currently at 153% of average and 210% of the median.

The advisory by the NWS also cautions drivers that must travel during this time. The weather will cause delays in travel due to snow and ice that gather on the road. Snow showers are expected to continue throughout Thursday afternoon and into Friday. A small break in the weather is expected over the weekend.

While the snow continues to accumulate, local residents should also be reminded to be courteous of snow plows. Residents are advised to not park on streets within the immediate 24 hours after any snowfall.

“This will allow our hard-working city snowplow drivers to safely and conveniently remove snow from the streets to allow for better and safer travel during the winter months,” the Price City Police Department shared in a recent press release. “Depending on the circumstances, a vehicle owner could be subject to citation and/or having their vehicle impounded during these times.”
