A day before a rivalry matchup with the Carbon Dinos on Wednesday, the Emery Spartans made the trip to Monticello on Tuesday and got plenty of batting practice, beating the Buckaroos 20-7. Emery had 20 total hits in the game.
Ridge Nielson picked up his third win on the mound after going three innings. Ethan Tuttle came on in relief for the final two innings. Tyson Roper and Dillon Wilstead each bashed home runs, their first homers of the season. Roper now has three career home runs, with each coming at Monticello. He nailed two homers in a game April 5, 2013 as a sophomore.
Emery scored in every inning, scoring 17 runs in the first three innings.
Emery (11-3, 8-0 Region 15) will host Carbon (6-7, 2-0 Region 12) on Wednesday. The Spartans will then host San Juan (6-6, 2-2 Region 15) on Friday.
