Spartans Look Forward to State Championships After 3rd Place Showing at Region 15 Track Meet

The Emery Spartans took part in the Region 15 Championships last week at Manti High School, bringing home a third-place finish.

The boys finished in third with 116 points and the girls ended up with 58 for a total of 174 points. Richfield took the overall spot with 300 points and Grand County followed up with 288.

Emery had two region champions, with one athlete winning in two events:

Braiden Ivie, first in 100 and 200 meters. Cale Allred, first in javelin.

Many others finished in the top five. They include:

Mason Faimalo, second 110-meter hurdles, fifth in 300-meter hurdles, second in high jump. Tiana Jensen, third in 100-meter hurdles. Bethany Justice, fourth in 100 meters, fifth in long jump. Cale Allred, Fourth in 300-meter hurdles. Ty Funk, second in 800 meters. Tayden Nielson, fourth in 800 meters, third in high jump. Drake Hoffman, second in shot put, fourth in discus. Jayla Weston, fourth in shot put. Marquies Giroux, third in discus. McKenzie Cox, fourth in discus. Elexis Dalton, fifth in discus. Keldan Guymon, third in javelin. Boys’ 4×100, fifth. Girls’ 4×100, fourth. Boys’ 4×400, fifth. Boys’ sprint medley, fifth.

Emery will participate in this weekend’s 2018 UHSAA State Track and Field Championships at BYU.
