Behind great performances by Ashlynn Allred, Paytn Jeffs and relay teams, the Emery High Spartans place a very respectable 10th out of 37 1-2A teams Friday and Saturday at the BYU Invitational.

Of the team’s 52 total points, Allred, a junior, scored 16 points herself, placing second in both the 100 and 200-meter races. Allred’s times in both races would have placed first and second place, respectively, had she run against all 3-5A teams at the meet. Allred was beaten in both races by North Summit’s Ashlin Blonquist, who ran the fast 100 and 200 times at the invitational.

Emery’s 4×100 team of sophomore Paytn Jeffs, sophomore Camry Johnson, senior Hanna Dyer and Allred placed second behind North Summit with a time of 51.01. The medley relay team of Jeffs, Johnson, Dyer and freshman Allyson Woolsey also placed second with a time of 4:33:54.

Jeffs placed first overall in the high jump, clearing a height of 5-03.00, which earned her team 10 points. She also placed sixth in the long jump. Senior Ryan Cox rounded out the scoring, placing seventh in the 100-meter final with an 11.66.

The team will participate in the Region 15 Championships at North Sevier High School on Tuesday.
