Spartans Swim to First at 2A Southern Division Championships

The Emery High School Swim Team faced off against several other schools Thursday at the Emery Aquatic Center for the 2A Southern Division Championships. Both the girls and boys placed first against the opposing schools, with margins of more than 50 and 100 points, respectively.

Spartan Madi Allinson placed first in the girls 500-yard freestyle with a time of 6:03.06. The boys 200-yard medley relay, composed of sole senior Taigon Pulli and junior class men Nate Gilbert, Darly Guymon and Garrett Stilson, took first clocking in at 2:01.10, more than :16 ahead of Grand’s second-place team. Senior Devin Willson placed first, finishing the 200-yard Individual Medley in 2:24.10.

Gilbert returned in the 100-yard freestyle, scoring another first place win in 54:33 and again in the 200-yard freestyle relay (1:45.33) along with Willson, Stilson and Zac Fauver. Sophomore Dakota Wright and Willson then placed first (1:05.02) and second, respectively in the 100-yard backstroke.

Daryl and Keldan Guymon both participated in the 100-yard breastroke with Daryl coming in at first scoring a time of 1:09.81 and Keldan in second. The boys 400-yard freestyle relay team made up of Wright, Willson, Daryl Guymon and Travis Felberg finished up the final event of the meet taking first and a time of 3:55.12.
