State Superintendent of Public Instruction Sydnee Dickson visited the Emery School District on Tuesday.

Following a breakfast at the district office with the school board, Supt. Dickson, along with her Chief of Staff Tiffany Stanley and Emery School District Superintendent Larry Davis, then visited schools in the district.

In her third year of office, Dickson stated she has a goal of visiting 10 schools each year. This year, she decided to start with rural schools and made Emery her first stop. This trip will also include Grand and San Juan districts. Her purpose for these visits is to get acquainted with the scope and logistics of these districts. She feels the importance of this knowledge in her job at the state level.

While visiting Emery High, she made a stop in several classrooms and remarked that she loves to talk with the students. Dickson feels this is the way to get a real pulse about the school. As a former teacher herself, she found appreciation for the instruction she witnessed in the various classrooms.

She then continued her visits to other schools in the district before traveling to the other school districts in Southeastern Utah.
