Wellington Elementary third graders enjoyed a community field trip as they left the classroom for some hands on experience and explored various areas in Price. The students, led by their teachers Mrs. Holdaway and Mrs. Gunter as well as several volunteer parents, were able to tour some local businesses and locations of learning.

Zions Bank offered them advice about saving money and answered questions about the banking industry. They spent some time with the employees at the local radio station KUSA, where they were taught about how radio is broadcast and toured one of the recording studios. Each student was given the chance to record their name and age and hear their voice broadcast on the airwaves.

Local business Peczuh Printing offered a tour of one of their facilities. Students toured the printing area and received information on how things are printed and watched machines and employees in action. Another stop was the Price City Library, where the third graders were guided through the proper care of books, how to find books in their reading level and were read a story.

Lunch at the Peace Gardens, donated by Little Ceasars, offered a mid day break and needed nutrition for kids who had been on the move all morning. Students then toured the murals in the Price City office building and enjoyed walking through the Bryner House, where they were taken back to the days of the pioneers. Here they were able to learn about how local citizens lived long ago and were given the chance to work an old fashioned sewing machine.

The day ended at the Prehistoric Museum and dinosaurs were added to the list of things learned throughout their community tour. The students returned to Wellington Elementary with so much more than tired legs. Thank you to everyone who helped to make their day one of success, fun, and knowledge.
