Taxi Crab: There in a Pinch

The Carbon County Chamber of Commerce celebrated a ribbon cutting Thursday afternoon for a new taxi service in town. Taxi Crab, owned and operated by Shawna Popejoy, is a shuttle service available to Carbon and Emery county residents.

Popejoy explained that she will pick up passengers in Carbon County and shuttle them to just about anywhere within reason. “One of my first runs was to Moab,” she exlained. “I picked up the passenger here in town and drove them down.” The bright red Taxi Crab will pick up Emery County passengers as well.

A $4.25 pickup fee is assessed per ride and $1.25 per mile is charged. All major credit cards are accepted.

Taxi Crab also offers a food delivery service. For a flat $10 fee, Popejoy will pickup orders from any restaurant in Price, Helper or Wellington and deliver to homes and businesses.

Although the taxi service is fairly new to the area, Popejoy admits she has had a lot of business already. “It’s fun,” she admitted. “Weekends are busy, but I look forward to business picking up as more people realize we are here.”
