If you'd like to hunt bull elk on limited-entry units in Utah, you need to apply soon. The application period closes March 3.

DWR Press Release

If you want to hunt big game animals in Utah this fall, the clock is ticking. Applications for hunting permits are due no later than 11 p.m. on March 3.

The best way to apply is at this Web page: www.wildlife.utah.gov/2016biggame.html.

Once you arrive at the Web page, you’ll find all kinds of information that will help you decide which permits to apply for. And, once you’ve made your decision, you can apply at the page.

Before you apply, though, you need to download the latest version of either the Chrome or Firefox web browsers. Both browsers are compatible with the latest security standards the DWR is using.

“Maps, drawing odds from 2015 and the success hunters found on various units last fall are among the items you’ll find on the Web page,” says Judi Tutorow, wildlife licensing coordinator for the DWR. “It’s a great resource.”

Access to the free 2016 Utah Big Game Application Guidebook is also available at the page.

In addition to applying for a permit, if you’d like a chance to hunt all three general deer seasons, Tutorow encourages you to consider joining Utah’s Dedicated Hunter program. And she has a reminder for lifetime license holders: By March 3, make sure you complete the online lifetime license questionnaire and select the unit you want to hunt.
