Emery wrestlers traveled to Roosevelt to take on the Union Cougars on Wednesday before the Thanksgiving moratorium. The Spartans are once again plagued by empty weight classes, which gives opponents extra points at each matchup.
Winning varsity matches for the Spartans were Drake Mangum, Gus Dalton and Newt Oveson with pins. McKay Meccarillo won by a major decision. Chase Christiansen and Korby Christiansen won by forfeit.
In the JV competition, J.V. Oveson and Zayn Defa both pinned their opponents. Braden Howard and Aden Mortensen won by minor decisions. In exhibition matches, AC Reeve and Dalton won by pins.
The Emery Spartan wrestling team will host the Richfield Wildcats this week, on Wednesday, Nov. 29, at the Spartan Center.
