United Way of Eastern Utah (UWEU) hosted its annual Soles2Souls dance benefit on Saturday.

At this event, local dance and cheer companies, as well as Carbon County royalty, showed off their talent for the community.

“Carbon County is full of incredible talent,” said event organizer Karen Basso. “Countless hours goes are spent in dance studios and gymnasiums each year preparing for performances. The Soles2Souls event is a great way to showcase local talent while earning money for a worthy cause.”

All proceeds from the event will go toward purchasing new shoes for children who cannot afford them. The Soles2Souls program has been in operation for over six years and has allowed the United Way of Eastern Utah to distribute over 700 pairs of new shoes to Carbon and Emery county children. According to the organization’s Facebook page, UWEU raised a little over $1,500 from this year’s event.

“We are so grateful for all the studio owners, dancers, cheerleaders and teachers for participating in this year’s event,” United Way of Eastern Utah Executive Director Carole Wright stated at the performance. “These studios have been helping us with this event for the past six years. We couldn’t do it without them.”

The participating entities included Encore Dance Studio, Dance Technica, Linda Johnstun School of Dance, Carbon County royalty, Helper Flare and the Carbon High Dino Drill Team.
