The USU Eastern volleyball team hosted Salt Lake Community College and Snow College on Friday and Saturday, respectively. The team suffered loses in both games but played with energy for their supporters at home.

On Friday, the Eagles came out strong in the first set, earning a 25-23 win. Another successful second set, 25-21, put USU Eastern ahead 2-0. A downturn in the third led to loses in the remaining sets, earning the Eagles a 3-2 loss. Shania Hurst led the offense with 10 kills and Jasmine Covington earned nine. Mckenzie Burrows had 36 assists on the night and Koralys Gonzales grabbed 20 digs.

Looking for a better turnout on Saturday, USU Eastern once again opened the game with a winning set, 25-23. Success didn’t continue for the Eagles as they dropped the remaining sets, 25-18, 25-20 and 25-19. Carly Dalton led the game with 15 kills followed by Covington with 11. Burrows racked 30 assists on Saturday and Gonzales contributed 22 digs.

The Eagles will continue conference play on Oct. 17 against College of Southern Idaho at home at 7 p.m. The team will play the following day at 1 p.m. against North Idaho College.
