USU Eastern Student-Athletes Earn NJCAA All-Academic Honors

Twenty-nine Utah State Eastern student-athletes have been named to NJCAA All-Academic teams for their work in the classroom during the 2017-2018 school year.

Three Eagles received first team honors with a 4.0 grade-point average. Those athletes are Cadee Berrett (women’s basketball), Mekenzie Miller (volleyball), and Harlee Willoughby (women’s basketball).

Thirteen Eagles received second team honors for having a GPA between 3.80-3.99. Those athletes include Alexandria Burrola (softball), Anna Towne (women’s soccer), McKenna Wiscombe (women’s soccer), Garrett Boston (men’s soccer), Rafael Monteiro (men’s basketball), Milan Surlic’ (men’s basketball), Kristupas Totoris (men’s basketball), Kaitlin Toluono (women’s basketball), Autumn Kay (women’s basketball), Jaelyn Olsen (volleyball), Haley Cloward (volleyball), Brooke Anderson (volleyball), and Jarrett Hunt (baseball).

On the NJCAA All-Academic third team there are thirteen Eagles selected for the honor. Those selected for the third team held a 3.60-3.79 GPA last school year.

Members of the third team include Blanca Casamort Vila (women’s basketball), Madison Loftus (women’s Basketball), Sidney Springer (women’s Basketball and Volleyball), Kynsee Mussmann (volleyball), Shyann Jones (women’s soccer), Rachel Neff (women’s soccer), Kiara Maryott (women’s soccer), Gabrielle Sainsbury (women’s soccer),Nicolas Schapochnik (Men’s Soccer), Kelshall Alexander, Jr. (men’s soccer), Kaina Elias (men’s soccer), Carson Bischoff (men’s basketball), and Jesse Rowley (baseball).

The Utah State Eastern women’s basketball team had the most honorees with seven.

NJCAA team academic awards will be announced later this summer. Last year, the USU Eastern volleyball and women’s basketball teams received All-Academic Team Award Honorable Mention for their work in the classroom and having a GPA above 3.0.

The 2018-19 Utah State Eastern Athletics schedule will begin on Aug.31 with the men’s and women’s soccer teams taking on Sheridan College at home starting a 1 p.m.
