Press Release

Utah State Eastern volleyball has named team captains for the upcoming 2017 season.

Head coach Danielle Jensen announced on Friday that sophomores Jaelyn Olsen, Aggie Roese-Olsen and Sidney Springer will be captains this year.

Both Jensen and her assistant coach Stacy Mortensen voted for one captain while the players voted for the other two captains.

This season coach Jensen will lean on the three captains for help on and off the court.

“The main thing I look to from my captains is building team unity and making sure that our team is taken care of both on and off the court. It is important for our team to watch out for one another and bond together,” Jensen said.

Springer, the leading scorer from last year’s team, believes being named captain will not get in the way of what the team is already doing.

“It does not change anyway we do anything, we still go to practice and treat each other the same way,” she said.

All three captains are hoping to continue to build a strong team culture and identity along with the other returning players.

“Us five are really good friends, our chemistry is amazing already and having freshman see that and see that we are not just a team, we are a family,” said Roese-Olsen.

The Eagles kick off their regular season in Las Vegas in a two-day tournament this Friday and Saturday.

They will open their home schedule on Sept. 23 against Scenic West Athletic Conference foe Colorado Northwest.
