Veterans Day is observed and celebrated annually on Nov. 11. In conjunction with the celebration of this holiday, USU Eastern hosted an open house on Monday for its newest addition in the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center: the Veterans Service Center.

Greg Dart, Vice Chancellor at USU Eastern, stated that the goal with the service center is to provide a place where veterans, both students and in the community, to feel welcome and at home in a comfortable space. Those that visit the center will be able to enjoy video games, free coffee and hot chocolate, along with other welcoming amenities.

The center is meant to be a space for veterans to spend time with other veterans. The college is also launching a new Veteran’s Advisory Committee. This committee will be made up of veterans from all walks of life to provide services and more that meet the needs of vets in the area. Dart expresses that the service center is the first step in what the college is hoping is a number of different avenues to better serve veterans.

For four hours, those that visited the second floor of the student center, room 201, were able to enjoy light refreshments and celebrate in veteran engagement in academic and campus life.

Visit USU Eastern to engage with the Veterans Service Center and learn all that it has to offer.
