Press Release

Utah State Eastern women’s basketball signed its first recruit of the 2018 recruiting class on Monday.

Morgan Toluono of Taylorsville, Utah signed a letter of intent on Saturday to become the first signee for head coach Chelsey Warburton‘s fourth recruiting class at Utah State Eastern.

“Morgan will be a great addition for us in the guard line-up. She is quick, athletic and understands the game,” said Warburton.

With the new signing date moved up to Nov. 8 for this year’s recruiting cycle, Warburton is glad her 2018 is off to a great start with Toluono.

“It is great to sign future kids like her early to solidify a spot so we can focus on other needs,” said Warburton

Eastern fans should recognize her last name. Her older sister Kaitlin is currently in her second year as a starting forward for the Eagles.

“I am excited but I am bummed that I don’t get to play with her here,” said Kaitlin.

Morgan said she chose to sign with USU Eastern because of the coaching staff and she hopes to contribute to the team the way her sister has as an Eagle.

“What I hope to contribute to the team is versatile player and I hope to help build up what my sister has done over the year,” said Morgan.

Last season for Taylorsville, Morgan was named First Team All-Region and 5A All-State Honorable Mention.

She averaged 11.5 points, 6.7 rebounds, 3.4 assists and 2.4 steals per game while leading the Warriors to the 5A State Playoffs as a junior in 2016-2017.

Utah State Eastern women’s basketball is currently 3-1 this season. Last year, they had a record of 16-16 overall and lost in the conference tournament semifinals.
