Press Release

9/13/2016 2:08:00 PM – The Utah State Eastern women’s soccer has been ranked 16th nationally by the new NJCAA poll that was released today.

The Eagles are currently undefeated with a record of 5-0 after defeating College of Southern Nevada and Grand Canyon University Club in Henderson this past weekend.

They received 35 points in the poll that was released by the NJCAA Division 1 Soccer Poll Committee. In the first preaseaon poll, the Eagles received some votes but did not crack the top 20.

Utah State Eastern head coach Ammon Bennett is okay with the ranking but knows it doesn’t mean anything.

“Honestly, it doesn’t mean anything now. It will mean more a month from now,” said Bennett.

The Eagles are the only team in the Scenic West Conference to be nationally ranked. The weekly poll will be released each Tuesday afternoon during the rest of the regular season.

This weekend, both women’s and men’s soccer teams travel north to Salt Lake City to take on the Bruins of Salt Lake Community College. Friday’s games start at 2 p.m. with the women’s match and the men’s match will begin soon after the completion of the women’s match.

Fans can follow the Eagles on Facebook at Utah State Eastern Athletics and on Twitter at twitter.com/usueathletics.
