On Tuesday, the Utah Rock Art Research Association (URARA) gave a presentation at the Emery County Public Lands Council meeting. The URARA is a research based organization that works with local groups and individuals to document, study and protect rock art.

Dianne Orr, education committee chairperson for URARA, and photographer Jonathan Bailey spoke to the council about the Molen Reef Rock Art documentation project.

In 2013, Bailey contacted the URARA to voice concerns about oil and gas lease sales in the Molen Reef area. He was concerned about what individuals may do to the area and the rock art.

The URARA is interested in partnering with the Emery County Public Lands Council to explore various options to plan and protect rock art and archeological areas for future preservation.
