Utah’s Free Fishing Day Scheduled

Each year, the Utah Division of Wildlife Resources hosts a free fishing day. This year’s event will take place June 8 meaning that anyone can fish this day with or without a current license.

The wildlife agency plans on stocking extra fish in lakes and reservoirs throughout the state. According to the DWR website, catfish averaging 18 inches in length will also be stocked into ponds prior to the annual fishing event. These waterways should prove successful to anglers on free fishing day.

Although wildlife officers will not be checking for valid fishing permits, they will enforce state rules and regulations. To find a complete list of these rules, DWR officials recommend picking up a 2013 Utah Fishing Guidebook or visit wildlife.utah.gov/guidebooks.
