As an extension of the festivities that took place during the annual Price City International Days celebration, hosted during the weekend of July 28-30, the Castleview Hospital Kids Day event occurred at Pioneer Park. During this event, Tony Basso GM donated a car that the children attending were invited to paint.

Brienholt’s Southeast Paint donated paint and time by mixing many cans of paint Hospitalist Dr. Paul Thayn and Child Life Specialist Belinda Thayn collected from community members. The duo also supervised the painting of the vehicle.

Collaborative art brings people together in a really joyful way,” Belinda said. “Painting a car was a unique and exciting way to engage kids in this kind of art. It’s not every day that adults give you permission to paint car.”

Castleview Hospital is now paying it forward and donating the painted vehicle to the nonprofit car donation program Wheels For Wishes.

“Now that we’ve painted the car top to bottom, we get to pay it forward,” Belinda continued. “As someone who works with hospitalized children, it is very exciting to know this car will now be used to help grant the wish of a child battling a life-threatening illness.”

According to utah.wheelsforwishes.org, Wheels For Wishes was founded in 2009 and established to benefit charities such as the local chapters of Make-A-Wish. Since the founding, Wheels For Wishes has donated over 25 million dollars to the chapters of Make-A-Wish. This has helped the program to grant thousands of wishes for children across the country that have been diagnosed with any sort of life-threatening condition.
