Citizens, elementary school students and veterans met outside of the Museum of San Rafael for a Veterans Day program on Wednesday morning. Castle Dale Elementary opened the program singing four numbers including “Hope for America,” “Freedom Isn’t Free,” “Military Medley” and “God Bless the USA.”

Geenie Baggs followed with the Pledge of Allegiance and “Our American Veterans.” Emery County Commissioner Keith Brady then spoke, telling about how grateful he is for his freedom.

“I learned to love my country when I was in South Korea serving my mission,” said Brady. “When I was almost done with my two years, I think I missed my country more than I missed my family… I believe that patriotism can be learned and should be taught in homes.”

Sarah Swasey then sang “Coming Home.” Veterans ended the program with a flag ceremony presented by Post #42. Punch and cookies were served afterward for those in attendance.
