Eighth grader Byron Christiansen from San Rafael Middle school won 15 buckles and two saddles at the Junior State Rodeo finals in Heber City over the weekend.

Leading the all-around points as he entered the finals, he placed in enough events to cinch the Boys’ All Around Award and a saddle. He also received a saddle for being the saddle bronc champion of the year.

Christiansen was also chosen as a member of the Cinch All-Star Team while representing the boys’ goat tying event.
Christiansen will be competing in Moron, South Dakota during the week of June 26 in saddle bronc, boys’ goats and bareback riding at National Junior High Rodeo. Teammate Cole Magnuson will also be competing in bull riding.
