Utah Opera 2014-15 Resident Artists performed on Tuesday for students at Castle Dale Elementary.

The Utah Opera’s Resident Artist Program is for singers and pianists. As part of their nine-month program, the resident artists travel to schools throughout the state to perform and teach students about the art of opera.

Pianist Lindsay Woodward, soprano Rachel Sigman, mezzo-soprano Abigail Lewis and baritone Will Tvrdik performed a game show “Who Wants to be an Opera Singer?” for the students to help teach them about opera.

The artists also answered questions about different types of music and demonstrated to students how an opera singer expresses emotions through music, even if it is in a different language.

The artists also performed small skits to teach the students how props and music tell a story.
