Carbon County residents may have noticed a weird taste and odor coming from their water over the past few days. Many residents have been concerned about this problem and have been wondering if it is safe to drink or not.

On Wednesday, the Price River Water Improvement District (PRWID) released a statement in regards to the problem on its Facebook page.

According to the statement, PRWID has been experiencing high temperatures for an extended period of time. The abnormal temperature promotes a taste and odor in which some individuals have described as “pond water.”

“The water has been tested and is safe to drink,” the Facebook post explained. “We are adding additional methods of treatment to correct for taste and odor by increasing the ozone dosage, activated carbon, and free chlorine.”

PRWID went on to explain that this incident is not related to any blue/green algae occurrence like many residents suspected at first.
